Before the season changes
Prepare the vehicle while conditions are still calm.
- Check tire tread depth and pressure.
- Replace worn wiper blades and top off washer fluid.
- Pack an emergency kit with a blanket, water, flashlight, and phone charger.
Winter roads
Bridges and shaded curves freeze first. Accelerate, brake, and steer gently, and double your following distance on snow or ice.
Rain and hydroplaning
The first rain after a dry spell lifts oil to the surface. If your tires lose contact, ease off the accelerator and steer straight until grip returns.
Low visibility
In fog, dust, or heavy snow, use low beams, slow down, and follow the right edge line. If you cannot see, exit the road fully and turn on hazard lights.
